Yändata' welcomes its first Executive Director - Clara MacCallum Fraser

I am taking this moment to announce to you a major development within our organization. Yändata' has recently appointed Clara MacCallum Fraser (PhD) as Executive Director. Yändata' Limited Partnership (L.P.) is the first Indigenous-led archaeological heritage management company of its kind in Canada. It is designed to ensure the leadership of the  Huron-Wendat Nation (HWN) in providing  archaeological expertise for development projects that may have an impact on their physical, cultural, and ancestral heritage in Ontario. Yändata’—which means “village” in the Wendat language—focuses on conducting investigations of ancestral Wendat sites and will broaden the Huron-Wendat Nation’s hands-on involvement in managing all aspects of their own archaeological patrimony.

Yändata' is a joint venture partnership with Archaeological Services Inc (ASI). Through this collaboration, ASI supports the Huron-Wendat Nation’s capacity-building in order to preserve, protect, and promote its patrimonial, ancestral, and cultural rights and interests in Ontario. This partnership aims at reconciliation and supports an innovative corporate ethic sought by Indigenous peoples in a contemporary world. The occupation and lives of many generations of Huron-Wendat ancestors have left an invaluable record that we have a duty to protect and manage, in collaboration with all of our partners, and this joint venture with ASI enables us to build our capacity to do so.

Yändata' adds to the jobs already created for the Huron-Wendat Nation over the past years at approximately forty work sites across the ancestral lands of the Nation. Through this partnership, ASI has embraced the opportunity of the call for truth and reconciliation, by transferring archaeological expertise and knowledge to the HWN. Yändata' promotes the transmission of knowledge between Indigenous nations, and between Indigenous and settler nations, and offers a business solution to proponents wishing to ensure the social acceptability of their projects.

Clara joins Yändata' as its first Executive Director, and we look forward to seeing Yändata' flourish under her leadership. Welcome Clara !

Je profite de cette occasion pour vous annoncer un développement majeur au sein de notre organisation. Yändata’ a récemment nommé Clara MacCallum Fraser, PhD, au poste de directrice exécutive. Yändata’ Limited Partnership (L.P.) est la première société de gestion du patrimoine archéologique dirigée par des Premières Nations au Canada. Elle a été créée pour assurer le leadership de la Nation huronne-wendat (NHW) dans la fourniture d'une expertise archéologique pour des projets de développement susceptibles d'avoir un impact sur son patrimoine physique, culturel et ancestral en Ontario.

Yändata', qui signifie « village » en langue wendat, se concentre sur la réalisation d'enquêtes sur les sites ancestraux wendat et vise à renforcer l’implication active de la Nation huronne-wendat dans la gestion de tous les aspects de son propre patrimoine archéologique.

Yändata' est un partenariat en coentreprise avec Archaeological Services Inc (ASI). Grâce à cette collaboration, ASI soutient le renforcement des capacités de la Nation huronne-wendat afin de préserver, protéger et promouvoir ses droits et intérêts patrimoniaux, ancestraux et culturels en Ontario. Ce partenariat s’inscrit dans une démarche de réconciliation et incarne une éthique d’entreprise innovante recherchée par les peuples autochtones dans le monde contemporain. L'occupation et la présence de nombreuses  générations d'ancêtres Hurons-Wendat ont laissé un patrimoine inestimable, que nous avons le devoir de protéger et de gérer avec l’ensemble de nos partenaires. Cette coentreprise avec ASI nous permet de renforcer notre capacité à accomplire cette mission.

Yändata' s'ajoute aux emplois déjà créés pour la Nation huronne-wendat au cours des dernières années sur une quarantaine de chantiers répartis sur les terres ancestrales de la Nation. Grâce à ce partenariat, ASI a saisi l'opportunité de l'appel à la vérité et à la réconciliation, en transférant son expertise et ses connaissances archéologiques au NHW. Yändata' favorise la transmission des connaissances entre les nations autochtones, et entre les nations autochtones et colonisatrices, et offre une solution d'affaires aux promoteurs souhaitant s'assurer de l'acceptabilité sociale de leurs projets.

Clara rejoint Yändata en tant que première directrice exécutive, et nous sommes impatients de voir Yändata s'épanouir sous sa direction. Bienvenue Clara !
